‘Sendai, Unknown’ is the latest release from Texas-based RG Lowe. There are incredibly jazzy overtones persisting throughout this entire track, from the opening guitar melodies, to the deep piano chords, to the brushed drum kit accompaniment. Over the top of this accompaniment, Lowe sings of the Fukushima Nuclear Disaster: “This song intermingles historical and personal events of March 11th, 2011 as a metaphor for the distances between people... I was with a friend in Portland Oregon waiting as the waves from the Tsunami would hit the Pacific Coast of the United States, but they came in as little more than a set of small ripples. Looking back on this event from almost a decade ago I was struck with its illustrative significance for myself and my life”. The track is taken from his upcoming album, Life Of The Body, a follow up to his well-received 2017 debut and is due for release on May 22^nd. - Dan Peeke
